SUPPORT GROUP:

People Pleasing Skills Group

“People-pleasing” describes the behavioral pattern of disregarding your authentic wants and desires for the sake of others’ happiness. If you’re a people-pleaser, you may suffer with feelings of resentment, anxiety, and depression surrounding these behaviors. For some, people-pleasing can be a difficult or seemingly impossible cycle to break.

This 3-week group program is here to tell you otherwise.

At the beginning of each group session, we will break down the people-pleasing pattern on a logical level. By identifying where this pattern comes from and why it persists in our relationships, we can then identify ways to overcome it. This program will provide you with the tools you need to start your healing journey by discussing communication and attachment styles, mindfulness techniques, and assertive communication approaches that can help you counter the people-pleasing pattern.
Each week, you will have time to discuss your own relationship with people-pleasing in a safe, confidential, and like-minded space. You will also go home with handout materials specifically designed to help you say yes to you.

Join us Wednesday nights at 7:00 at Evoke Mind and Body from July 31st – August 14th.
Limited availability. $20 per person paid at the first session.

About Your Group Facilitator:

Vince Blando

Hey! I’m Vince Blando. As a kid growing up in Chicago, I wanted to be an artist. I was really inspired by cartoons & animation and the ways they create this sense of “anything is possible!” in children’s minds. As I pursued an art dream, I realized my own inner voices and coming-of-age experiences had muted my optimism over the years. And more so, I realized people around me had lost that sense of imagination and belief in themselves, too, as I believe we all have our own experiences that shape us. As a student at UNCW and intern at Evoke, I am now on the path to becoming a therapist to help people rediscover their sense of hope and optimism. You’ll see me around the office working on social media and in community outreach efforts that support Evoke’s mission.
