Thoughtful Medication Support for Your Whole Self

We provide comprehensive care that meets the needs of each person. Just like therapy, medication management recognizes that you are unique and your care should be designed to fit your needs.

A Collaborative, Whole-Person Approach

Medication can be a tool in your healing journey, not a one-size-fits-all solution.

Medication management is a collaborative process where we explore whether medication can support your mental health, and if so, help you find the right fit. We look at the full picture – your symptoms, lifestyle, goals, and history – to create a plan that feels aligned and sustainable.

You don’t have to know if medication is the “right” choice; we will explore appropriateness together.

When Medication Might Help

Medication management may be a supportive option if you are experiencing:

  • Persistent anxiety or overwhelm
  • Depression or low moods
  • Difficulty focusing or regulating emotions
  • Sleep challenges
  • Symptoms that feel hard to manage with therapy alone

Our Approach

At Evoke Mind and Body, medication management is:

  • Collaborative — you are part of every decision
  • Intentional — we don’t rush or over-prescribe
  • Whole-person focused — we consider sleep, stress, lifestyle, and your support systems
  • Integrated — designed to complement your overall wellness plan

What to Expect

Initial Evaluation

Your first appointment is a comprehensive evaluation that typically takes 75–90 minutes. During this time, we will:

  • Review your mental health and medical history
  • Explore current symptoms and goals
  • Discuss treatment options, including whether medication is appropriate
  • Create a personalized plan together

Follow-Up Sessions

Follow-up appointments are approximately 30 minutes and provide ongoing support. During these sessions, we will:

  • Monitor your progress
  • Evaluate how your medication is working
  • Make adjustments as needed
  • Support you through changes and challenges

We will do our best to schedule your appointments with convenience in mind if you are engaged in other services at Evoke Mind and Body but cannot guarantee availability of any provider to accommodate this. If it is more feasible, telehealth services are always an option.

Frequently Asked Questions

A Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) is an advanced practice provider trained to assess, diagnose, and treat mental health conditions. They can prescribe and manage medications, while also taking a holistic, whole-person approach to care.

Medication management involves evaluating your symptoms, prescribing appropriate medications if needed, and monitoring how they are working over time. The goal is to ensure your treatment is safe, effective, and aligned with your needs.

A PMHNP can support a range of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, PTSD, mood disorders, and more.

The initial appointment is a comprehensive evaluation. Your provider will review your mental health history, current symptoms, lifestyle factors, and goals. Together, you will explore whether medication may be helpful and discuss appropriate treatment options. Follow-up sessions focus on monitoring progress and fine-tuning your treatment plan. These visits typically include symptom check-ins, evaluation of your response to medication, any needed adjustments, brief updates on life changes that may impact your symptoms, and ongoing support.

Frequency may vary based on your needs, your medications, and your provider’s recommendations.

No. Medication is just one tool. Your PMHNP will collaborate with you to determine whether it is appropriate, and may also recommend therapy, lifestyle changes, or other supportive approaches.

When prescribed and monitored appropriately, psychiatric medications are generally safe and effective. Your provider will review potential benefits, risks, and side effects with you and make adjustments as needed.

It is important to communicate any side effects. Your provider can adjust the dosage, switch medications, or offer strategies to help manage them.

Absolutely, though it is not always required. Medication management is often most effective when combined with therapy, wellness coaching, yoga, or other wellness-based practices for a more holistic approach.

In many cases, yes, though coverage varies by plan. It is best to check with your insurance provider for specific details.

Medication management and therapy are distinct yet complementary approaches to mental health support. While they can be effectively combined for maximum benefit, using them together is not always necessary.

  • Medication Management: This approach focuses on the medical aspect of care. Our provider will assess your symptoms, prescribe appropriate medication, and monitor its effectiveness over time. These appointments are typically shorter, centered on symptom relief, side effects, and necessary dosage adjustments.
  • Therapy: In therapy, you will collaborate with one of our clinicians to explore your thoughts, feelings, and behavioral patterns. Sessions, which are usually one hour long, are more in-depth and focus on building coping skills and processing significant life experiences.
